Bursaries & scholarships
The Les Fountain Travel Bursary
The Les Fountain Bursary is available to support junior SSBP members (students and others in full-time training) from within the UK who have been selected to present a talk or poster at the International Research Symposium. Bursaries take the form of free registration. In 2009 a maximum of five bursaries will be awarded.
TS Alliance/SSBP Junior Travel Bursaries
In 2009 travel bursaries will be available to support the travel costs of junior investigators (students and others in full-time training) from outside the UK who have been selected to present a talk or poster at the International Research Symposium. Awards will have a maximum value of £500 each. We anticipate awarding four or five Junior Travel Bursaries. Preference will be given to members of the SSBP.
Applications for both awards are made in the same way. Please indicate clearly whether you are applying for a Les Fountain Bursary or a TS Alliance/SSBP Junior Travel Bursary.
How to apply
Applicants for a bursary should preferably be members of the SSBP. To apply, email the SSBP Office with:
- a cover letter stating which bursary you would like to apply for and the reason for your application
- a copy of your CV
- If possible, a supporting letter from your supervisor or Head of Department
Closing date for applications: 22nd May 2009.
Terms and conditions
Those awarded a bursary must submit an abstract for either an oral presentation or a poster at the meeting. Bursaries will only be awarded to candidates selected by the Scientific Committee to present a talk or poster at the International Research Symposium. Recipients also undertake to write a brief report for the Society Newsletter, which will be published in the next year. For any further enquiries about bursaries, please contact Robbie Fountain at the SSBP Office.
